I
never asked myself the question 'why me?' when I was first diagnosed with
cancer.
The
only thought I was concentrated on was to say ; OK, now that I've been
diagnosed with cancer, I'm going to handle it as if it were a "headache".
I'll take some pills and I'll be all right. And I've kept my spirits high
all the time. Day after day, I said to myself, it's over, I'm done with it,
the only thing that was damaged was my breast. And because I have been very
optimictic along the way, I'm doing great, I feel wonderful.
I think
the reason we are in this world is to go through some trials. I just needed
to pass another divine trial, and draw on experience.
The
first thing I did was to quit my job as a PR consultant, something I had
been doing successfully over the past 21 years. I had the urge to consider
not my job but my own self as top priority. Of course, I came to that point through
a process of awakening, maturity and forgiveness. I realized the ultimate
importance of well-being, so I left my stressful life behind. I believe that
God has given me a second chance and I want to use this chance in the best
way I can.
For
years, I had no time to relax, to go on holidays with my loved ones, to be
with mom, to lay back and watch animation films. Even when I was able to do
those things, I had such a limited time. Because 99% of my time was spent
on my job.
Within those 21 years, I supported many celebrities in many ways.
Although the sentence "Whoever Nermin gives a hand to succeeds", something
I had heard over the years, sounded nice to my ears as a compliment, it was
now time to make a decision. I realized none of the celebrities (with some
exceptions) who had needed me, who had benefited from my ideas and hit the
top, were there for me during those difficult times. I thought that I
deserved at least a "get well soon" message after all those things I did for
them, but I was wrong. I was used just as a machine of ideas while they were
climbing the stairs of fame and wealth...
So I
opened a new page in my life. The things I experienced during the times of
my illness and recovery gave birth to the idea of producing a new hat. I had
to share it with other cancer patients!!
I put the idea in action right away. I hadn't had the benefit of such a hat,
but I wanted future cancer patients to take advantage of the benefits of
such a hat.
